Terms of Service

Last updated: October 28, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SpecLock ("the App"), a Shopify application that lets you create a visual proof for a custom or made-to-order order and collect your customer's approval before you produce it. By installing the App on your Shopify store, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or continue using the App.

1. What the App does

For an order you select, the App lets you attach a proof — one or more images or PDF files, plus optional dimensions, material, color, text and a note — and send the customer on that order a link where they can view the proof and either approve it or request changes, without needing a Shopify account. You can upload a new version of the proof if changes are requested, and you are notified by email when the customer responds. If the order is edited after a customer has already approved a proof (for example a different quantity or product), the App detects this automatically and flags it for your review before you continue production.

The App requests the read_orders, write_orders, read_customers, and write_files permissions from Shopify to do this, along with write_products, write_metaobjects, and write_metaobject_definitions, reserved for the App's own configuration. See our Privacy Policy for exactly how each permission is used.

2. Your responsibility when using the App

You are responsible for making sure the proof you send accurately represents what you intend to produce, and for reviewing a customer's approval or requested changes before you begin production. The App records a customer's approval as a timestamped response on the proof, but it is your responsibility to treat that approval appropriately in your own production and customer-service process.

3. Eligibility

You must have an active Shopify store and the necessary permissions on that store to install apps in order to install and use the App. By installing the App, you confirm you are authorized to grant it the permissions it requests on behalf of your store, and that you are authorized to contact the customers on the orders you create proofs for.

4. Subscription and billing

The App may offer a paid subscription plan, billed through Shopify's own Billing API. Any price, billing interval, and free-trial terms are shown to you inside Shopify, and you must approve the charge there before it takes effect — we never see or store your card details, and Shopify (not us) processes the payment against the method already on file with your Shopify account.

If you are on a paid plan, your subscription renews automatically for the interval shown to you when you approved it, unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time by uninstalling the App from your Shopify admin; uninstalling stops all future billing immediately. We do not offer partial-period refunds for an already-charged billing period.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. The App is provided "as is"

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a customer will respond to a proof within any particular time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including any production decision you make based on a customer's approval or requested changes. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

7. Termination

You may stop using the App and cancel your subscription at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or Shopify's own policies. What happens to your data after uninstalling is governed by Shopify's GDPR-mandated data deletion workflow, described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, except where applicable local consumer-protection or data-protection law requires otherwise.
